The ask
A logo update
- A new logo
- Plain white vans, ready to wrap
Case study · HVAC, plumbing and electric
A Durham shop with over 20 years of trust and a logo that never kept up. They came in for a logo update, and left with a real brand, a fleet of wrapped vehicles, billboards and a membership program.
Ted’s had over 20 years of trust, great reviews and a new website. What they didn’t have was a brand. All they had was a logo made quickly years ago that just stuck. It did its job, but it was never built to grow with them.
It was hard to read on a truck and hard to reproduce on uniforms. And they were running it on plain white vans. They knew it was time to invest in fully wrapped vans, and that meant they needed a brand to put on them.
“We had built great recognition in our community, but our look was starting to feel outdated. We needed a brand that preserved our history while giving us a modern, professional edge, especially on our trucks.”
We kept what the shop had earned and gave it a face. The new logo anchors on navy, with red and yellow as small accents and a three-bar underline for air, plumbing and electric.
A friendly bear named Ted became the mascot, in three poses, with the tagline “Service with Care from the Bear.” A mini brand guide, service badges and trade icons tie it together, so every piece looks like the same company.
“Our new Ted the Bear mascot came out incredible. He really helps capture the friendly, trustworthy feel we want our customers to experience before we even step through the door!”
Once the brand was in place, the work kept going. We designed over a dozen vehicle wraps, led by the service vans and running all the way down to SUVs. Billboards, the Ted’s Club brochure and a Whole-Home Care Guide followed, along with a social template library, stickers, magnets and a set of mini icons.
Within about three months, a logo update had become a full identity and production program.
“Seeing the new designs actually applied to the box trucks and Sprinter vans brings the whole vision to life.”
How the work grew
The ask
The brand
The production
Every piece after the first rounds started from the same system, so each new request took less time to get right.
In their hands
Julia and the Ted’s team make and post their own videos, and with a full brand toolbox behind them, it’s easier than before. Ted the bear, the colors, the logo on every hat and polo and a wrapped van in the shot make every post look like Ted’s.
“Zach helped us set up our social media templates, and they look amazing! Having those ready to go makes creating our branded videos so much easier.”
The result
“From the trucks down to the service brochures, everything finally looks like it belongs to the same top-tier company.”
